As a neurodiverse individual, I live and breathe the reality of what neurodiversity can feel like, how it drives us, and how it can create differences between those who are neurodiverse and those who are neurotypical.
The word neurodiversity is often used as an umbrella term that recognises the positive aspects of differences such as dyslexia, autism, ADHD, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, Touretteβs and many others. These differences can shape the way we think, communicate, process information and experience the workplace.
Understanding how neurodiversity presents itself within the workplace is incredibly important. That is why Iβm really excited to be delivering a number of webinars throughout May with Toucan Workplace.
The first webinar takes place on 12 May at 12:30 PM and is a free 30 minute session focused on understanding what neurodiversity is and how it can bring both strengths and challenges within workplace environments.
This session will explore how individuals can feel, react and experience the workplace, but also how managers, leaders and organisations can better understand and support neurodiverse talent. From talent acquisition and HR to leadership and business growth, understanding neurodiversity is not only beneficial for people, but beneficial for organisations too.
Of course, neurodiversity and many associated conditions are protected under the Equality Act, but real inclusion goes beyond compliance. It is about understanding individuals, recognising strengths and creating environments where people feel supported and empowered to succeed.
For individuals, understanding yourself and your own differences can give confidence and clarity. It can help you identify strategies, communicate your needs and better understand how to use your strengths positively within the workplace.
For managers and senior leaders, gaining a real world understanding of neurodiversity and listening to lived experience can have a huge impact on culture, wellbeing and business development. Supporting people properly helps organisations grow stronger, more inclusive and more effective.
Iβm really looking forward to delivering this webinar and I hope many of you can join me.
